WEST SIDE CRIMINAL DAY - 8/14/07

Yet another realtively quick day at 15-1-01 for today's Criminal Day. Of the 11 cases listed, four were withdrawn and reduced to summary offenses after the respective defendants complied with agreements with the court, five cases were waived to Common Pleas Court, and two cases were continued. One of the cases continued was the latest criminal charges against Ashton John Bater (15-1-01, CR-0000217-07). Bater was arrested on Friday afternoon by Ofc. Aaron Davis and charged with drug related offenses, scattering rubbish and public drunkeness. He was arraigned in front of Judge Michael Cabry in Honey Brook District Court and lodged at CCP on 10 percent of $1,500 bail. His bail was modified to $1,500 unsecured, with the rationale being that as stupid as his decisions are regarding picking up new charges, he at least shows up to his hearings.

Also making an appearance today, though not as a defendant, was William D. Kraut, who in May won both the Republican and Democratic nominations for the Goshen District Court seat (15-2-03) that was held by retired Judge J. Peter Winther. Kraut will take office next January to begin a 6-year term in the District Court that covers West Goshen, Westtown, and Thornbury.

And thus, another West Side Criminal Day goes into the books.
