COURTHOUSE ODDS AND ENDS - 8/06/07

Just a couple of quick hits before the real fun stuff gets posted...

The people who own Benny's Pizzaria on North Church Street are now operating the cafeteria (such as it is) at the Courthouse. So far, the reaction seems positive as there are at least more than one person behind the grill which should improve the operation of the stand. Most of the people familiar with Benny's did seem disappointed that they wouldn't be selling pizza for now, but who knows if that will change as they get their feet wet...

The preliminary hearing for Tykesha Jackson on her aggravated assault case will finally be heard tomorrow in front of Judge Bruno during Criminal Day at 15-1-01. Jackson's case had been listed for trial at the Court of Common Pleas in front of Judge William Mahon, however the assault case from West Chester was remanded back to District Court for a hearing, since Jackson had been declared a fugitive (15-1-01, CR-0000030-07). The Jackson hearing is one of a handful of cases scheduled for tomorrow's Criminal Day. That report, plus guilty pleas in a few more cases from the Court of Common Pleas will be posted tomorrow.
