SUSPECTED ROBBER NABBED

An arrest has been made in connection with last Friday's robbery of the PNC Bank in East Bradford. Earle K. Barnwell, 24, of Philadelphia, was arrested last night and charged with 129 criminal counts, including Robbery, Terroristic Threats, Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, Receiving Stolen Property, Theft by Unlawful Taking, and Conspiracy. He was arraigned last night in Phoenixville District Court by Judge Theodore Michaels and committed to Chester County Prison in lieu of $150,000 cash bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled in front of Judge Arnold in Downingtown on Monday (15-2-06, CR-0000380-07). Barnwell has a previous felony conviction in Philadelphia relating to a May 31, 2002 carjacking in Southwest Philadelphia; he was sentenced to 5-to-10 years in state prison plus two years consecutive probation in that case (CP-51-CR-0910651-2002)...

On a similar note, a 45-year-old Philadelphia man is wanted by WCPD for allegedly stealing counter checks from the PNC Bank (since closed) at High and Chestnut Streets and attempting to cash at least two of said checks. Gregory Jerome Bettis faces two counts each of Theft of Moveable Property and Recieving Stolen Property. Bettis has not yet been arrested in regards to this case; the case was filed on August 2 (15-1-04, CR-0000248-07)...

A recap of today's Criminal Day at 15-1-04 will be posted either later this evening or sometime tomorrow, depending on how bad my backlog is at work tonight...
