STABBING ON WAYNE ST ... WCPD STRETCHED THIN

At this moment (20:05), WCPD units, GFAC, and two Medic 91 units are responding to a stabbing on N Wayne and West Chestnut Streets in the west end. According to inital reports, the actor reportedly went into 109 N Wayne while the victim was last seen westbound on the 400 block of West Chestnut....

20:25 - Now searching for 2 hispanic males who were involved in the incident. Units had searched 109 N Wayne with negative results so far. The victim has apparently left the scene and GFAC units are being released at this time (WCPD #20070707M0083)

How wonderful is it that a stabbing has to take place less than three blocks away from Uptown while the Iron Hill Criterium is taking place? I'm sure the Business Improvement District and the Chamber of Commerce didn't have a stabbing incident three blocks to the west of their little bike race included on the agenda...

Meanwhile, with all available transport units committed to the Wayne Street incident, that pretty much left the detail units at the bike race without a transport car as at least two arrests for either public drunkeness or disorderly conduct (or both) were made Uptown while this incident was playing out. Naturally, the nearest transport unit had to come from West Goshen.

To that end, there's been some rumblings from West Goshen's police brass about having their officers responding into the borough far more often than they would like. Can't say that I blame them, however, until such time as the legislature decides to give West Chester the right to tax alcohol sales to help fund more police officers, then this is the circle that we're stuck with.
