ACTIVE NIGHT IN BOROUGH...

In addition to the regular multitude of calls in and around the college neighborhoods, WCPD had a couple of interesting calls last night...

At around 21:30 Friday evening, P/O Greg Cugino made what appeared to be a routine pedestrian stop on the 100 block of South Matlack St. Upon running a check on the individual, it was determined that he had an outstanding criminal warrant out of 15-1-04. The subject, Paul P. Hally, 34, of West Chester, was originally scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on April 20 to answer to charges Retail Theft, Disorderly Conduct, and Public Drunkeness from an incident on January 31 (15-1-04; CR-0000055-07).

Hally, however, failed to appear for that hearing and was taken into custody. Hally was arraigned in district court and committed to Chester County Prison in lieu of $15,000 bail. His hearing is scheduled for this Friday in front of Judge Knapp; it's very likely that he won't skip this particular hearing, considering where he is presently...

Almost as soon as the clock struck midnight, leading into Saturday, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of East Gay Street to investigate a noise complaint from that controversial and problematic restaurant ... Alberto's. Upon investigation, the establishment (which, as you can tell from the sarcastic tone of the preceeding sentence, is hardly in the same nuisance territory as, say, 15 North or Baxter's) was cited for violating the municipal noise ordinance.

Just as officers were clearing that incident, a disturbance broke out on that same block. When things settled down, a 47-year-old West Chester man was taken to West Goshen Police for "Live Scan" (the state's automated fingerprint system) since the suspect reportedly didn't have appropriate identification; hence the to trip to West Goshen for Live Scan, which is the procedure when a suspect can't produce positive ID...

Leobarda Estrada faces two counts of Indecent Assault, two counts of Harassment, and one count of Public Drunkeness. He was committed to CCP in lieu of $7,500 bail and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for this Friday in front of Judge Knapp. (15-1-04, CR-0000158-07)
